Library Happenings

Dear families,

I am incredibly excited and grateful to serve your children’s literacy and information needs this year.  Our library is turning into a magical place where stories come to life through puppet shows, creative dramatics, and music.  We are continuing to integrate digital learning tools such as Nearpod, Flocabulary, Britannica School, and Adobe Spark to increase student engagement and to provide them with the skills needed to properly access and navigate information technologies.
Please, take some time to explore the Britannica School and Follet/Destiny Apps included in your child’s V-portal account. These tools offer age-appropriate information resources as well as a variety of enriching texts and interactive ebooks.

Last but not least, I encourage you to read with your child for pleasure. Reading for twenty minutes every day not only has a positive academic impact but it also provides opportunities to bond with your child. As a parent/caregiver, you are welcome to visit our school library and check out up to 10 books per week.  I’ll leave you with a verse from the poem The Reading Mother by Strickland Gillilan.
You may have tangible wealth untold;
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be--
I had a Mother who read to me.
